Watan-A poignant video clip has been circulated, documenting the moment when Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al Sharif met with his colleague Abdullah Al-Hajj after entering Al-Shifa Complex in the northern Gaza Strip.

The clip showed Anas Al Sharif embracing his colleague and crying intensely, while Al-Hajj said, “By God, I’ve been thinking about you since yesterday.” Anas replied, “My dear heart.”

Al-Hajj said, “May Allah be pleased with you, my dear Anas.”

Severe destruction in Al-Shifa Complex

The Israeli army withdrew from Al-Shifa Medical Complex early Monday after besieging and occupying it for two weeks.

The scenes following the withdrawal revealed immense destruction, with hundreds of bodies found inside the complex and in the surrounding area.

The scenes documented the extent of the damage inflicted upon the medical complex and its surroundings. Other footage showed charred bodies of martyrs scattered in the streets and roads surrounding Al-Shifa Medical Complex, with families searching for their loved ones’ bodies in the Al-Shifa Cemetery after it was excavated.

300 martyrs in Al-Shifa Complex

Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Major Mahmoud Basal said that there were about 300 martyrs in Al-Shifa Complex and its surroundings after the withdrawal of occupation forces, and that the Israeli forces executed bound citizens.

He added that Israeli forces set fire to sections of Al-Shifa Hospital and destroyed all the medical equipment and supplies inside.
