Revealing the Israeli Attack on Iranian Consulate in Damascus: Inside the Security Breach

Watan-Iranian security sources revealed exciting details about the attack targeting the Iranian consulate building in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The sources, speaking to the “Arabi Post” website, stated that investigations by the Revolutionary Guard indicated an Israeli security breach within the Syrian security and intelligence apparatus, leading to the targeting of the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the assassination of Iranian leaders within it.

The investigations confirmed an Israeli breach of the Syrian regime, making it easy for the occupation to track the locations of Iranian Revolutionary Guard leaders in Syria and target them on multiple occasions, including the attack on the Iranian consulate.

An Iranian security official stated that all investigations conducted by the Revolutionary Guard and Iranian intelligence indicate that the Syrian government has not addressed the security breaches that led to the targeting of Iranian leaders in the past, resulting in a repetition of such incidents in the recent attack.

He added that Tehran had previously requested the Syrian regime to address these Israeli violations, especially following the assassination of Iranian commander Sayed Razi Musavi in Syria on December 25, 2024.

It’s worth noting that earlier, the Revolutionary Guard had attributed Israeli violations in Damascus to the assassination of Razi Musavi, along with other Iranian leaders.

A source from the Revolutionary Guard affirmed strong evidence of the involvement of senior Syrian security figures in leaking information about the presence of the Guard’s leaders in Syria to the Israelis.

According to the investigations, an agreement between security officials in Damascus and Israeli authorities led to the prevention of Israeli targeting of vital locations in Syria in exchange for providing information about the whereabouts of the Revolutionary Guard leaders in Damascus.

He indicated that Tehran is attempting to reach a solution with the Syrian government to hold its security officials accountable.

Iranian Anger towards Damascus

An Iranian security source from the Supreme National Security Council confirmed that the Israeli assassination of prominent Revolutionary Guard leaders in Syria sparked outrage among the top leadership in Tehran, increasing suspicions about the Syrian government.

This situation escalated after reports from Revolutionary Guard intelligence revealed significant Israeli breaches within Syrian security apparatuses shortly after the start of the war in Gaza.

Israeli Strike on Consulate Building

Iran had announced that the consular section of its embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, was subjected to an Israeli missile attack.

Iran announced on April 1st that the Israeli occupation had assassinated senior Revolutionary Guard commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi, along with commanders Hossein Amirallah and Hajj Rahimi, alongside three other Iranians, in a raid on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The Syrian regime condemned the attack on the consulate, with Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Bashar Jaafari, stating that “Israel executed its barbaric attack from the occupied Golan Heights.”

He added that the area where the attack occurred was filled with civilians, noting that “Israel cannot carry out its attacks without American support.”
