Cairo negotiations

Watan-A source within the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, responded to numerous reports circulating in the past hours about progress in the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip.

The source, in statements to Al Jazeera, stated that there has been no progress in the negotiations hosted by Cairo to reach an agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza, noting that the Israeli delegation did not respond to any of the movement’s demands.

The source added that the Hamas delegation left today to consult with the movement’s leadership.

Egyptian media talks about progress

Egyptian media outlets affiliated with the regime quoted a high-level Egyptian source as saying that there is progress in the talks and agreement on the fundamental axes among all parties.

The unnamed source added that the negotiations in Cairo are witnessing significant progress in bridging viewpoints.

The Egyptian channel indicated that the Hamas and Qatar delegations left Cairo and would return within two days to finalize the agreement, while the Israeli and American delegations would leave the Egyptian capital within a few hours, with consultations continuing over the next 48 hours.

Greater flexibility and nearing an agreement

In a related context, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that all parties are showing greater flexibility in the negotiations than before, stating that Hamas wants to reach an agreement.

The authority clarified that the United States is exerting pressure on all parties, including Israel, quoting a US official as saying that reaching a deal is closer than ever before.

Expectations of resolving the main issue

Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 quoted sources expecting Washington to propose a solution to the main sticking point in the negotiations regarding the return of displaced persons to northern Gaza.

It stated that the Washington proposal may include the return of entire neighborhoods to northern Gaza, expecting Israeli flexibility in dealing with this issue.

Hamas insists on cessation of aggression

Hamas reiterated in a statement its adherence to its natural national demands and its keenness to reach an agreement that achieves a complete cessation of aggression.
