Watan-Billionaire Elon Musk predicts that the development of artificial intelligence will reach a level where it becomes smarter than the smartest human by next year or by 2026.
Musk said in an interview with the CEO of Norway’s wealth fund, Nicolai Tangen, on the Clubhouse app, that artificial intelligence is constrained by the availability of electricity, and the next version of GPT, the AI-powered chatbot for his startup, X.AI, is expected to be tested by May.
Regarding the development of artificial intelligence to surpass the intelligence of humans, Musk explained when asked about the timeline for developing “general artificial intelligence”, “If AI knows it’s smarter than the smartest human, I think that will probably be in the next year, within two years.” according to Reuters.

Musk, who also co-founded OpenAI for artificial intelligence research, said that a lack of advanced electronic chips hinders the development of the second version of GPT.
Elon Musk founded X.AI last year to compete with OpenAI, which sued him, accusing him of abandoning its original mission of developing artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity rather than for profit. OpenAI denies these allegations.
He added that while chip shortages have been a major obstacle to the development of artificial intelligence so far, electricity supplies will be crucial in the next year or two.
Regarding electric cars, Musk emphasized that Chinese automakers are “the most capable of competing in the world” and pose “the toughest competitive challenges” for Tesla.
Musk has previously warned that Chinese competitors will destroy global competitors if trade barriers are not erected.
