Escalating Tensions: Iran’s Aerial Assault on Israel and the Cost of Defense

Watan-The Hebrew newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” stated that the cost of the aerial interceptions in the skies of Israel, for Iranian missiles and drones, exceeded one billion dollars last night.

The spokesperson for the Israeli army stated that Iran launched more than 300 rockets and drones at Israel and 99% of them were intercepted, adding that a few ballistic missiles entered Israeli airspace.

He mentioned that some of the attacks came from Iraq and Yemen in addition to Iran. He claimed that “Iran failed to destroy our military base in the Negev.”

He added that the missiles launched from Iraq did not reach Israeli airspace.

Meanwhile, Hebrew Channel 12 reported that only 7 missiles penetrated the airspace out of 110 ballistic missiles launched by Iran.

CNN reported, citing American officials, that US forces intercepted more than 70 drones and 3 ballistic missiles during Iran’s attack on Israel.

Iran launched its first direct attack on Israel in its history last night, using drones and missiles, in response to an Israeli missile attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier this month, which resulted in the killing of 7 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, including General Mohammad Reza Zahedi.

Iran stated that half of the missiles launched towards Israel last night successfully hit their targets.

On the other hand, the Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that the Revolutionary Guard used Shahed 136 drones and Khyber 4 missiles in response to Israel.

The Iranian attack has ended

Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, stated that Iranian missiles and drones managed to penetrate Israeli air defenses.

He confirmed that the Iranian attack destroyed two important Israeli military sites.

Salami emphasized that the Iranian attack has ended and there is no desire to continue it, but his country will respond strongly if Israel targets its interests.

He pointed out that if Washington participates in any attack against Iran, its bases in the region will be targeted and will not be safe.

The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard considered that Israel crossed red lines by targeting the Iranian consulate in Syria, and it was necessary to respond to it.
