Watan-Politicians, writers, and activists, led by prominent Kuwaiti thinker Dr. Abdullah Al-Nafisi, affirmed that the attack carried out by Iran on Israel on Saturday serves the interests of the occupation and the Netanyahu government, not the other way around.
Last Saturday, Iran launched over 330 drones and missiles at Israel as part of its retaliation promised for the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
Did Iran’s attack serve the occupation? This attack sparked widespread debate on social media because it didn’t achieve any tangible results or significant damage to the occupation, to the extent that some described it as “theatrical.”
Commenting on the matter, Dr. Abdullah Al-Nafisi stated that Iran’s attack on Israel diverts the world’s attention from Gaza and saves Netanyahu’s government, which was on the brink of collapse.

Renowned Egyptian writer Gamal Sultan echoed the same sentiment as Al-Nafisi, tweeting from his official account, saying: “I don’t think any rational person fails to see that Iran politically saved Netanyahu yesterday and rallied international public opinion with Israel.”
Sultan continued regarding Iran‘s attack: “It politically, humanly, and militarily weakened the oppressed in Gaza. Iran’s project in the region is an Israeli necessity, and Israel’s project is an Iranian necessity as well.”
He further condemned, stating that Gaza has been literally sacrificed for six months, with hundreds of its people killed and torn apart daily, with 33,000 casualties so far. Iran hasn’t sent a single plane to Tel Aviv or launched a single rocket towards Israel in retaliation or to alleviate pressure, despite repeated pleas from Palestinians.
He concluded: “When Israel killed four Iranian soldiers in Damascus, Iran got angry, mobilized its army, and launched hundreds of marches and rockets towards Israel, away from the theatrical display that took place yesterday, causing an Israeli boy to be injured in the Negev Desert. What do you understand from this ‘contradiction’?”
A blatant theatrical performance
Dr. Ibrahim Hamami said, “Iran’s supporters in the region, instead of explaining this pathetic and feeble play, directed their arrows against anyone who exposes this drama… Perhaps it’s shock, dismay, and bankruptcy?”
He continued, explaining from his perspective: “Maybe it’s the inability to respond, so it became necessary for the matter to turn into a lesson in ‘professorship’ and ‘exclusive’ understanding, thus launching personal attacks on those who criticize their darling, making the critic ignorant, emotional, incapable of understanding, unable to analyze! To be fair, I forgive them as their shock is immense and their disappointment knows no bounds… It’s okay, there are better things ahead!”
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, admitted in his statements yesterday that Tehran had previously informed Washington that its attacks on Israel “would be limited and in self-defense.”
Iran began a widespread attack on targets inside Israel late Saturday, lasting about 5 hours.
The Israeli army reported that the majority of the missiles launched from Iran were intercepted outside Israel’s borders.
