Watan-A young Syrian man committed the murder and burning of his sister due to personal disputes between them in the Jaramana area in the countryside of Damascus.
The Ministry of Interior, through its official Facebook account, published the suspect’s photo and disclosed details of the incident in a statement.
The ministry said in its statement that the Jaramana police in the countryside of Damascus received a report of a fire breaking out inside an apartment. Upon the security forces’ arrival and extinguishing the fire, they found the partially burned body of a girl.
Investigations revealed that her child, who is one and a half years old, and her brother were present when the fire broke out, while her husband was absent at work. Under pressure, her brother confessed to killing her after a dispute between them.
He said a fight broke out between him and his sister, so he hit her head against the wall, causing her to lose consciousness.
To divert suspicion from himself, he piled clothes on her and set them on fire, then took the child and left the house.
He justified his crime by citing personal disputes between them, due to his sister’s drug abuse.
The suspect has been referred to the judiciary to take necessary legal actions against him.
