Tragic Revelations: Suicide and Israeli Military Actions at the Nova Music Event
Watan-One of the survivors from the “Nova” music event, which coincided with the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7th of last year, revealed that around 50 survivors had committed suicide due to their psychological suffering – this toll was reported two months ago according to his information – indicating that the number has likely increased.
The survivor from the event, Guy ben Shimon, stated that many survivors were forcibly admitted to hospitals.
He added, “I have many friends who can’t get out of bed.”
This came during a hearing session of a committee in the Israeli Knesset listening to testimonies regarding the health and mental state of the survivors from the “Nova” music event, where Ben Shimon presented evidence of dozens of suicides.
The survivors who attended – those who participated in the event held near the settlement of Re’im adjacent to the Gaza Strip – appeared before a session of the State Control Committee in the Knesset on Tuesday.
The survivors spoke about the “bureaucratic difficulties” they face when receiving government services, as reported by Al Jazeera.
They also demanded appropriate psychological support and recognition of their condition as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
On its part, the Israeli Ministry of Health denied the validity of the claims about suicide cases in front of the Knesset.
The head of the ministry’s mental health department, Gilad Bodenheimer, stated that these numbers are inaccurate.
Israeli Investigations: The Occupation Killed the Celebrants
Haaretz newspaper revealed, citing Israeli police investigations, that it was the Israeli army that killed the celebrants who were present at the Nova music event in the Gaza envelope area during the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
The Israeli police investigations indicated that the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, were unaware of the music event near Kibbutz Re’im during the attack on October 7th last year.
According to the newspaper, the estimates of Israeli security agencies indicate that the planners of the attack from the resistance factions were not aware of the music festival beforehand, and the decision to target the event was spontaneous, made after they discovered that there was a mass event taking place in the area.
Israeli security officials explained that Hamas learned about the Nova music festival through drones or those who fly parachutes, and they directed some of their people to the location using their communication system.
According to these investigations, the initial Al-Qassam elements who arrived at the festival came from Route 232 (areas inside Israel that the resistance elements had controlled), not from the direction of the security fence, meaning from within the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Plane Targeted the Celebrants
The Israeli police investigations revealed that a military aircraft belonging to the Israeli army fired at the participants in the Nova festival while attempting to target fighters from Palestinian resistance factions who had arrived at the event location.
According to a police official quoted by Haaretz, the investigation revealed that a military helicopter belonging to the Israeli army arrived at the scene from the Ramat David base and fired at the resistance fighters.
It appears that they also hit some of the celebrants who were there.
The newspaper stated that the existence of charred bodies confirms the findings of the police investigation, as the Al-Qassam Brigades do not possess incendiary weapons, thus indicating that the Israeli airstrikes killed the celebrants.
The newspaper added that a number of pilots admitted that they may have bombed Israelis because they did not know where or whom they were bombing. According to the police, 364 were killed in the festival.
The police reached these conclusions based on investigations with a number of Palestinian detainees in the Gaza envelope area following the “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood”.
