Watan-Media reports, citing Arab sources, revealed that the United States is in discussions with Arab countries regarding the potential solution for the day after in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Channel 12 reported that one of the options being considered is handing over the Strip to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
It added that the discussions have been ongoing for weeks between American officials and those from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Jordan.
Transitional period overseen by NATO
According to the channel, one of the options under consideration is removing the administration of the Gaza Strip from Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, with international recognition of the Palestinian state, followed by placing the Strip under a transitional authority from NATO.
The report stated that NATO forces would stay in the Gaza Strip for five years, during which they would “lay the foundations of the Palestinian state, oversee the reconstruction of Gaza, build institutions there, and prepare for elections” to be held after the transitional period.
The proposal also mentioned that if successful in the Strip, it would later be applied in the West Bank.
Ongoing discussions without clear outlines yet
The Israeli channel pointed out that at the moment, the broad outlines have not been finalized, but these matters are being discussed between American and Arab officials these days.
Pre-existing stance from Hamas and factions
It is worth noting that Hamas has previously stated its rejection of any arrangements in the Palestinian issue without its involvement, along with other resistance factions.
At the end of last March, Palestinian factions reiterated their rejection of statements by the occupation regarding the formation of international or Arab forces in Gaza, emphasizing that they are unacceptable and will be treated as occupying forces.
The factions stated in a statement that the talk by occupation leaders about forming an international or Arab force for the Gaza Strip is mere illusion and mirage, and any force entering the Gaza Strip is rejected and unacceptable, it is an occupying force and will be dealt with according to this description.
They added that the administration of the Palestinian reality is a Palestinian national internal affair, and no one will be allowed to interfere in it.
They continued: “All attempts to create alternative administrations that circumvent the will of the Palestinian people will die before they are born and will not succeed; because the people who rewrote history with their blood and steadfastness cannot be occupied or have their will taken away, even if all the forces of evil gather under the leadership of America and the occupation to achieve it.”
