Explosive Incident: Israeli Settler Wounded Removing Palestinian Flag

Watan-An Israeli settler was wounded as a result of an explosion of an explosive device while attempting to remove a Palestinian flag planted in the middle of a piece of land in the village of Al-Mughayir, east of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, in the occupied West Bank.

Video footage documented the moment the settler approached the flag near the “Kochav Hashahar” settlement built on Palestinian lands east of Ramallah.

As soon as he kicked it with his foot, an explosive device detonated, causing him injuries.

Reminder of the flag ambush

Activists in Al-Mughayir village linked this incident to a famous event known as the “flag ambush,” which was carried out by the Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades near the southern borders of the Gaza Strip in 2018.

At that time, the “Nasser Brigades” had released a video containing footage of the flag ambush, which was executed on February 17, 2018.

The Israeli occupation authorities had acknowledged the injury of four Israeli soldiers, including two serious injuries.

The video showed six Israeli soldiers – believed to be from the explosive engineering unit – near the eastern borders of the southern Gaza Strip, with one of them removing the flag attached to the fence, placing it in the middle among his colleagues before it exploded on all of them.

The video also showed the process of skillful booby-trapping carried out by members of the Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades.
