Watan-Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas,” Ismail Haniyeh, commented on the Eid massacre committed by the Israeli occupation army, which resulted in the martyrdom of 7 of his sons and grandchildren, revealing three implications behind the massacre.

Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement to Anadolu Agency: “First, we ask Allah to have mercy on the martyrs and grant patience to the sons and grandchildren.”

He added that this crime reflects three implications, the first being the failure of the Israeli occupation to achieve its military objectives over seven months.

He added that the occupation only succeeded in killing thousands of children, women, and elderly civilians, and thus the Eid massacre, which claimed the lives of 3 sons and 5 grandchildren, falls within this context and confirms the enemy’s failure.

Haniyeh continued: “The second implication is that the occupation believes that a massacre targeting my home, my children, and my grandchildren can exert pressure on the leadership of the movement and its chairman to make concessions in the ongoing ceasefire negotiations, which is delusional.”

He pointed out that Hamas has always affirmed that the demands of the Palestinian people cannot be compromised or relinquished, whether regarding the Gaza issue and the conditions for ending the aggression, or concerning the historical rights of Palestinians in their homeland and the return of the Palestinian people, and the establishment of their state with full sovereignty and its capital in Jerusalem without any compromise or hesitation.

He emphasized that the third implication is that his sons are part of the Palestinian people, saying: “Our situation is like that of our people; we live with our families, our homes are our children, our grandchildren, our roles are all exposed to what our Palestinian people are exposed to, and I said from the very beginning, the blood of my sons is no more precious than the children of our Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and everywhere.”

Haniyeh continued: “All the sons of Gaza and the West Bank martyrs are my sons just like our martyrs abroad, so we are equal in rights and duties and in bearing the costs, and we accept all of this with open hearts and determination and steadfastness, and we confirm that we will continue on this path no matter the sacrifices.”

Three of Ismail Haniyeh’s sons and several of his grandchildren were martyred on the first days of last Eid al-Fitr, in an Israeli airstrike on a civilian car in the Beach refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army said that the killing of Haniyeh’s sons was an assassination operation planned with the internal security apparatus (Shin Bet), claiming in a statement that they were all members of the military wing of the Hamas movement.

It added that the operation was carried out by warplanes belonging to the Israeli Air Force on Wednesday, and that the three were on their way to carry out armed activity in the central Gaza Strip, according to its claim.
