Watan-The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, refuted the claims raised regarding the transfer of the movement’s offices from Qatar to Turkey.
Zaher Jabarin, the head of Hamas in the West Bank, stated that the circulating news about the transfer of Hamas offices from Qatar to Turkey is inaccurate, affirming that Hamas will not relocate its offices anywhere outside Doha.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, he added that these rumors stem from media pressure on the movement, pointing out that Hamas has had operational offices in Istanbul for about 10 years and continues its work there to this day.
Results of the Turkey visit
Regarding the outcomes of the visit by Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh to Turkey and his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Zaher Jabarin said that this visit resulted in a series of decisions.
He clarified that among these decisions is Turkey exerting pressure, using its political and diplomatic tools, to stop the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip and to work towards a ceasefire.
He noted that Turkey informed the movement of its intention to double the volume of Turkish relief aid entering the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing.
Claims of Hamas leaders leaving Qatar
The American newspaper “The Wall Street Journal” claimed that Hamas is considering moving its political leadership from Qatar and has been in contact with two Arab countries for this purpose, one of which is Oman.
The newspaper stated, “Hamas leaving Qatar could affect the delicate talks underway between the movement and the Israeli occupation regarding the release of detainees in Gaza and would make it difficult for Washington and Tel Aviv to communicate messages to Hamas.”
According to the claims of the newspaper, Arab officials stated that Hamas has been in contact in recent days with at least two countries in the region to understand their stance on relocating political leaders to their territories, and one of these countries is Oman.
The sources mentioned that Hamas believes the slow progress of the prisoner exchange talks could continue for several months, putting its strong relationship with Doha at risk, according to their claims.
