Italian MP Slams PM Giorgia Meloni Over Silence on Gaza: “Hypocrisy and Political Cowardice”

Angelo Bonelli accuses Italian premier of failing to condemn genocide and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians during Israeli war on Gaza.

Watan-Italian Member of Parliament Angelo Bonelli, a leading voice in the opposition, launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni over her stance on the Israeli war on Gaza, accusing her of “hypocrisy” and “political cowardice” for failing to condemn what he described as “genocide and ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians.

Speaking live from the parliament floor, Bonelli declared:”I know you’re in a difficult position, but today you were deeply hypocritical. You lacked the courage to denounce what the entire world can clearly see: genocide, deportation, and ethnic cleansing. You should be ashamed in front of the Italian people.”

He continued forcefully:”I’m shocked and disgusted by your hypocrisy. How do you feel as a mother watching 18,000 children being killed? You didn’t even have the courage to condemn Netanyahu’s ministers.”

Bonelli’s remarks come amid mounting criticism of the Italian government both domestically and across Europe for its silence and perceived bias in handling the atrocities committed in Gaza, as Israeli bombardment escalates and the humanitarian catastrophe worsens.
