Egypt’s President Al-Sisi’s Military Tour Sparks Controversy: Israeli Media Reacts

Watan-Egyptian regime’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi conducted a tour on Saturday in the New Administrative Capital, during which he visited the Egyptian Military Academy at the headquarters of the Military Command.

Some of the photos of al-Sisi during his visit trended and made headlines among Israelis after they were circulated by Israeli media.

These photos show soldiers and officers undergoing training in the presence of al-Sisi on how to intercept the famous Israeli Merkava tanks, and they highlight the weaknesses of the Israeli attack and defense system.

This public display of such scenes raised questions in the Israeli media about the significance of this scene and its broadcast on Egyptian state television.

According to the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, al-Sisi inspected the command building of the Academy during the tour. He also inspected the sports halls and discussed the living conditions of the Academy’s students.

Israeli media linked these photos to a potential invasion operation in Rafah and considered them a deliberate and intentional message from the Egyptian regime, warning Tel Aviv about the consequences of executing this attack, which Netanyahu insists on.

Al-Sisi warned days ago against any military operations in Palestinian Rafah, which would have catastrophic consequences on the humanitarian situation in the region, as well as regional peace and security.

Hebrew reports stated that despite the peace agreement between Egypt and the occupation, “Egypt still considers us its main enemy.”

Some wonder if Egypt wants to send us a message amid talk of the Rafah operation?

Others among the regime’s opponents mocked these scenes, amid questions about al-Sisi’s real role towards Gaza and the Palestinian people. They recall his support for the suffocating blockade on Palestinians and his continued closure of the Rafah crossing under flimsy pretexts.

Some accused Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of secretly supporting the occupation’s schemes and undermining the capabilities of the resistance, attempting to besiege it. While publicly projecting an image of supporting Gaza and Palestine. He was recently criticized for the price of lifting the Gaza siege through suspicious support deals that saved him from the severe economic crisis, according to them.

In this context, Dr. Amr Ahmed wrote: “Of course, al-Sisi staged this ridiculous scene and played his drum, saying he visited the War College while they were studying the weaknesses of the Merkava tank.”

He continued, explaining: “Even though the Merkava has been defeated in wars and its weaknesses have been studied at the War College since the days of Mubarak, there is no accomplishment. But it gives the enemy a pretext to use against us! Traitor.”

Hebrew media mentioned that Israel is preparing to send ground forces to Rafah, which it claims is the last stronghold of the resistance and Hamas. It stated that preparations are being made to evacuate Palestinian refugees who take shelter there.

Official Israeli channels mentioned that after the failure of ceasefire negotiations with Hamas, the invasion of Rafah, which was postponed for several weeks due to disagreements with Washington, will take place “very soon.”
