Netanyahu’s Legal Battle: Tensions Mount Over ICC Arrest Threat

Watan-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a genuine crisis due to the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued against him by the International Criminal Court, which has put him in an unusually tense state.

The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” reported that Netanyahu’s fear of decisions by the International Criminal Court is the reason for Israel’s significant flexibility regarding the issue of the prisoner exchange deal during the visit of the Egyptian delegation to Tel Aviv.

The newspaper cited informed sources, not named, as saying that Netanyahu is “afraid and unusually tense” due to the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

It added that Netanyahu has made an intensive number of phone calls in recent days with leaders and international officials in an attempt to pressure them to prevent the issuance of an arrest warrant against him, especially with US President Joe Biden.

It noted that Netanyahu is indirectly trying to pressure President Biden to act against the issuance of the warrant.

According to sources, Netanyahu realizes that the international arrest warrant could make him a persecuted person, so he invests in daily efforts to thwart it.

Israeli media outlets had previously speculated about the possibility of the International Criminal Court issuing international arrest warrants against Netanyahu.

They added that decisions could be issued against Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi over war crimes committed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip.
