Watan-In a significant development, Hebrew reports revealed that 30 soldiers from the Israeli Army’s reserve paratrooper unit have reported being unable to continue participating in the war.
This comes after the soldiers received notices to prepare for participation in the invasion that the occupation is threatening against Rafah city in southern Gaza.
Israeli Channel 12 stated that these reports indicate a significant drain on the strength of the occupation army, and that this step may lead others to follow suit.
It added that reporting suffering from high pressure increased to 43.5% during the war, an increase of about 78%.
Managers in workplaces reported an increase in employee absenteeism, a shortage of emergency shelters, and increased tension during work since the beginning of the war.
Wholesale Israeli losses
During the ongoing war in Gaza, which followed the Aqsa Storm last October 7, many Israeli brigades participated in incursions into the Gaza Strip.
Among these brigades were the Givati Brigade and the Golani Brigade, in addition to the Nahal Brigade.
During these incursions, the Israeli occupation lost many of its soldiers, including the prominent leaders of these brigades. The occupation army announced the killing of Nahal Brigade commander Yonatan Steinberg during clashes with Palestinian resistance on the borders of the Strip.
On April 17, the occupation army acknowledged the “disability” of more than 2,000 soldiers, policemen, and security personnel since the beginning of its war on Gaza more than 6 months ago, with an average of 60 army and security personnel being disabled daily.
Among these disabled individuals, approximately 60% are afflicted with limb injuries, including amputations, and about 10% with injuries to organs.
The data indicated an increase in the percentage of people experiencing sleep difficulties from 18.7% last summer to 37.7%, an increase of 101%.
At the same time, the occupation army acknowledged the killing of 640 officers and soldiers since the start of the war on Gaza, while more than 7,200 soldiers were injured and admitted to the “rehabilitation” wing, according to data from the Rehabilitation Division of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
The division stated that about 30% of these injured individuals, or 2,111 wounded, exhibited various mental reactions, termed “psychological crises,” according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.
It added that for about 60% of those suffering from psychological crises, approximately 1,267 wounded, the psychological injury is the primary injury. It also reported that “95% of the injured overall are reserve soldiers up to the age of 30.”
According to the Rehabilitation Division, the rehabilitation department is preparing to receive about 20,000 new wounded individuals by the end of 2024, including those with psychological symptoms such as anxiety, post-traumatic depression, adaptation difficulties, and communication problems.
