Watan-After an official silence lasting 24 hours, the Israeli occupation army was forced to acknowledge the killing of two officers in an ambush carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in the town of Al-Maghraqa in the middle of the Gaza Strip on the evening of Sunday, April 28, 2024.

The Israeli army said in a statement on its platform X, “Major Aidoo Avivi, 28, from Karmiel, and Major Kalkeedan Mahari, 37, from Petah Tikva, were killed in battles in the middle of the Gaza Strip.”

The army also indicated that two others were seriously injured, without specifying the circumstances of the incident.

The Israeli army said in the statement that one of the deceased soldiers was from the “Yiftach” brigade and the other injured soldiers were from the reserve forces, one from the “Carmeli” brigade, indicating the possibility that they were killed in the ambush.

On Sunday evening, the Israeli website “Rotter” reported that three Israeli soldiers were killed, while 11 others were injured in an explosion of an explosive device in the Gaza Strip.

The Maghraqa Ambush… “Your merchandise has been returned to you”

The Al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters lured an Israeli force and trapped it in a mine ambush on the railway street in the Maghraqa area in the middle of the Gaza Strip.

The Al-Qassam Brigades noted that their fighters used explosive devices and “F-16” rockets that had been launched at civilians and did not explode in the ambush.

The ambush by “Al-Qassam” came one day after the Israeli army announced the entry of the 99th Brigade into the Gaza Strip, and a week after the entry of the reserve combat brigades “Yiftach” (679) and “Carmeli” (2) into the Strip, tasked with the responsibility for the area of the corridor separating the north of the Gaza Strip from its south, which is the location of the Al-Qassam operation.

The Al-Qassam Brigades published a picture on Monday containing the phrase “Your merchandise has been returned to you,” underneath which is a red triangle and a burning tank, and at the bottom it is written “The Maghraqa Ambush,” referring to the operation carried out on Sunday.

The Brigades continued to shell the Israeli occupation forces in the Natsarim axis with mortar shells, as announced today.

“Natsarim” is the name of an Israeli settlement that was established in the middle of the Gaza Strip before its evacuation and complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005 under the blows of Palestinian resistance, in an operation dubbed in Israel “The Disengagement Plan”. The settlement was one of 21 settlements that formed the so-called “Gush Katif Settlement Bloc” on the land of the Strip.
