Watan-Kuwaiti media reported that Dr. “Yaqoub Al-Osaimi” brought out the child “Ahmed Shabat” – the sole survivor of his family – from Gaza and took care of his treatment, embraced him, and accompanied him.
The child Ahmed, from the town of Beit Hanoun in the northernmost part of the Gaza Strip, was subjected to shelling. His father, mother, brother, and others from the family were martyred, while he and his younger brother, aged two, survived. His life was in danger if he was not treated promptly.
A video clip showed Dr. Yaqoub playing with Ahmed after the success of his surgeries.
It is planned to provide the child with prosthetic limbs after the recovery phase.
Dr. Osaimi, who was studying in Jordan, gained recognition for saving the life of a girl who almost lost her life due to suffocation from a bottle cap inside a store in Irbid province last May.

Kuwaiti doctor Yaqoub Mohamed Al-Osaimi, who completed his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, said in previous statements to the media: “After graduation, I decided to wait for three days to rest from the hardship of the tough exam period, and while I was in the market to buy a bag to carry my things and return to Kuwait, I encountered the critical condition of this girl.”
UNICEF estimates that a thousand children in Gaza have become amputees since the start of the war in October.
Ghassan Abu Setta, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in London specializing in pediatric injuries, told the New Yorker that: “This is the largest group of child amputees in history.”
Salsebil Zeid, a psychologist working with children and families in the complex, told the source that many child amputees suffer from “depression, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, boredom, nausea, difficulty sleeping, anxiety attacks, and despair.”
