What does the tradition of distributing sweets for the soul of the deceased mean?
It’s worth noting that distributing sweets for the soul of the deceased is an old Turkish tradition. The family of the deceased usually presents a box of chocolates or any kind of sweets during condolences.
The purpose of this gesture is to offer charity for the soul of the deceased and to declare the family’s patience and acceptance of God’s decree.
