This comes after weeks of student protests at many American universities in solidarity with Gaza, protesting against the genocidal crimes committed by Israel against them, leading to the arrest of dozens and violent clashes between police and protesting students.
According to the American channel Fox News, Representative Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, introduced the bill on Wednesday along with Representatives Randy Weber, a Republican from Texas, and Jeff Duncan, a Republican Socialist, in response to ongoing protests against Israel on university campuses across the country.

“Ogles” claimed to the network that students have left their classrooms to harass other students and disrupt campus activities, including university graduation celebrations nationwide. “Enough is enough,” he said.
He added, “That’s why I introduced legislation that would send anyone convicted of engaging in unlawful activity on the grounds of an American university since October 7, 2023, to Gaza for at least six months.”
In the context of reactions to the unprecedented resolution, Jordanian preacher Iyad al-Qunibi commented in a tweet on his “X” account, asking, “Are they saying: Whoever opposes Israel, we will deprive them of our American paradise and send them to our Gaza hell?”
He added, addressing American officials, “Take off all the false makeup with which you adorned yourselves over the past years and show your true selves, you criminals.”
Many of these protests have turned violent, with clashes between police and activists, in addition to the arrest of hundreds of activists at multiple universities.
While “Ogles” bill does not mention Israel or anti-Israel groups, it specifically targets activity on campuses after October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a sudden attack that shook the Israeli entity.
Escalating tensions
According to the American network in a report by Elizabeth Elkind, those convicted would be forced to serve a community service sentence of at least six months in Gaza, where Israel is currently conducting a brutal aggression against Gaza.
The bill is likely to face uncertain challenges in the House of Representatives, where Republicans hold a slim majority with just one seat. Even if passed, it is likely that the Democratic-controlled Senate will ignore it.
However, this serves as an example of the escalating tensions gripping the United States over the war between Israel and Hamas.
