Watan–Visitors to the Cappadocia region, one of Turkey’s most famous tourist centers, have the opportunity to explore the area from the sky by flying with “Microlight” aircraft, which are lightweight aerial vehicles equipped with engines.
Cappadocia, located in the Nevşehir province (central Turkey), is renowned for its diverse tourist activities and its historical and natural landmarks, most notably the “fairy chimneys,” the underground cities carved into the rocks, in addition to the balloon tours organized in the region.
Recently, the area has seen the launch of tours using “Microlight” aerial vehicles, after obtaining the necessary permits from the relevant authorities.
During the tours, tourists participate in 20-minute trips organized by a company, where participants have the opportunity to enjoy viewing the fairy chimneys from the sky, providing them with a unique experience.
The official from the organizing company, Sultan Shan, stated that the tours, which are being organized using “Microlight” aerial vehicles, have added a new dimension to tourism in the region.
Shan added that these tours have received very positive feedback from visitors, saying, “We are happy to add a new and exciting activity to Cappadocia. We organize tours using Microlight vehicles to showcase the region’s unique and natural beauty to visitors.”
“20 Minutes of Flight Equals a Day”
For his part, pilot Sarkan Shan stated that the flights are conducted with the accompaniment of a specialized pilot piloting the Microlight aircraft, which accommodates two people.
Shan explained that the organization of these flights began recently in Cappadocia after obtaining the necessary licenses and official approvals, pointing out that these aerial vehicles represent a new addition to tourism in the region.
Meanwhile, pilot Mohammed Nouri Shan highlighted that Microlight flights offer an additional option alongside the balloon tours being organized in the area.
He added, “We can conduct flights throughout the day… in just 20 minutes, we offer tourists the opportunity to see areas they cannot visit in a full day.”
The pilot noted that the Microlight aircraft is considered one of the safe aerial vehicles, providing an experience full of excitement and adventure. He pointed out that visitors have expressed their admiration for the tours they participated in and the unique views they were able to witness from the sky.
“I Felt Like a Bird in the Sky”
Tourist Houlia Boyeraz expressed her immense excitement after experiencing flight using a Microlight.
She said, “Watching Cappadocia from the sky was an extremely enjoyable experience. I can’t describe this experience in words. Flying with a Microlight added new fun and activities to Cappadocia.”
She added, “It was wonderful to watch how this vehicle is piloted. I recommend everyone to try this adventure. I felt like a bird in the sky. Seeing Cappadocia from above and feeling this freedom was an incredibly unique sensation.”
Cappadocia is one of the most prominent tourist destinations attracting visitors from around the world. It is characterized by unique terrains that have contributed to its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It is famous for its underground cities, fairy chimneys, or what is referred to in Arab deserts as “Mo’edad al-Shaytan” (“Devil’s Tables”), which were formed as a result of erosion and weathering factors.
