Hamas Receives Ceasefire Draft, Central Leadership Meeting Planned for Response

Movement to review proposal tonight, with a positive response expected if key issues are upheld.

Watan-A senior source in Hamas disclosed this evening, Monday, that the movement has received a draft of a ceasefire agreement from the mediators. The source, who chose to remain anonymous, stated that Hamas will hold a central meeting tonight to discuss the received draft. He emphasized that the movement’s response will be positive as long as the key issues affecting the Palestinian people are not compromised.

A Hamas leadership source confirmed on Saturday evening that the final version of the ceasefire agreement has been finalized. The proposed agreement includes a full withdrawal from the Salah al-Din “Philadelphia” axis on the last day of the agreement’s implementation. The first phase entails a partial withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, while the second phase retains Israeli monitoring points. The final phase consists of a complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces.

Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, confirmed that there has been progress in the detainee agreement, stating, “Israel wants the agreement, and we will soon see if the other side wants the same.” Sa’ar added that Tel Aviv is making “intensive” efforts to reach an agreement that guarantees the release of dozens of detainees in the Gaza Strip, noting, during a press conference with his Danish counterpart Lars Løkke Rasmussen, that “progress has been made in negotiations for the release of the hostages (detainees). Israel wants their release and is making intensive efforts to conclude an agreement”.

This came after an Israeli official quickly denied reports claiming that Israel had not received a draft proposal for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the release of detainees from Qatar. Meanwhile, the Hebrew site Walla reported today that senior Israeli officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the framework for the deal “is already clear.” They added, “It could happen within hours or days. Israel has made significant progress.” The officials emphasized that “Israeli understandings and flexibility in the position are evident.”

The last few days have shown the level of preparedness to finalize the deal.” They confirmed that the final signing also depends on Hamas, saying, “The question is whether they will make a decision that turns the negotiations into a final agreement.” They added, “We are very close to finalizing the deal, but everything is in Hamas’s hands.”
