Swiss Prosecutors Review Complaints Against Israeli President Isaac Herzog During Davos Visit

Herzog Faces Allegations of "Incitement to Genocide" in Gaza as NGOs Call for Legal Action.

Watan-Swiss prosecutors announced on Wednesday that they are reviewing multiple complaints filed against Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who is currently visiting Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos. Non-governmental organizations have accused Herzog of “incitement to genocide” in the Gaza Strip, according to media reports.

The Swiss Attorney General’s Office confirmed that it has received “several criminal complaints” against Herzog, stating that these complaints are being examined under standard procedures.

The office added that it is in contact with the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address “the issue of the immunity of the individual concerned,” without providing specific details about the nature of the complaints or the entities that filed them.

According to the Swiss News Agency, one of the complaints was submitted by a non-governmental organization called “Legal Action Against Genocide.” The organization is demanding that Herzog be prosecuted for “incitement to commit genocide and crimes against humanity.”

The complaint alleges that the Israeli president played “an active role in providing ideological justifications for genocide and war crimes in Gaza by erasing any distinction between civilian populations and combatants.”

Israeli officials have denied these allegations, asserting that Israel does not commit war crimes or genocide, and accusing Hamas of using civilians as human shields.

Herzog addressed the Davos Forum on Tuesday and held meetings on Wednesday morning, though it remains unclear whether he is still in Switzerland.

It is worth noting that similar complaints were filed against Herzog during his attendance at the Davos Forum last year. However, the Swiss Attorney General’s Office declined to open an investigation at that time.
