Israeli Forces Escalate Assault on Jenin, Imposing a Siege on the Refugee Camp

Seven Days of Aggression Leave 16 Dead, Thousands Displaced, and Massive Destruction in Jenin and Its Refugee Camp.

Watan-The Israeli occupation army continued its assault on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank for the seventh consecutive day on Monday, leaving 16 martyrs, dozens of injured, and massive destruction of homes since the campaign began.

The occupation escalated its ongoing military operation in Jenin, with bulldozers destroying the Cinema Square and its surrounding areas in the city center, including citizens’ commercial stalls around the square, amid clashes with resistance fighters.

The occupation forces also continued demolishing, bombing, and burning homes in Jenin refugee camp, destroying large parts of the Damaj neighborhood, Al-Bishr neighborhood, Abdullah Azzam neighborhood, and Talat Al-Ghabz. Columns of smoke were seen rising as several homes were set on fire alongside the demolitions. The occupation also blew up two homes in the camp, one belonging to the Talabeh family.

The camp remains under siege from all directions, with witnesses reporting the sound of explosions and intermittent armed clashes in the area. They also noted that drones continually hover over the city.

Reinforcements by the Occupation

The Israeli occupation army continued deploying military reinforcements, including bulldozers, to Jenin, with military vehicles stationed in front of Jenin Governmental Hospital amid the presence of warplanes overhead.

Dr. Wissam Abu Bakr, director of Jenin Governmental Hospital, stated that the destruction of the main road and the deployment of military vehicles by the occupation forces are hindering the work of the medical team.

The occupation had bulldozed the hospital entrance and blocked its access points with dirt mounds, preventing entry and exit.

Meanwhile, the governor of Jenin, Kamel Abu Rubb, reported that the occupation had blown up about 20 homes in the Jenin camp and is working to divide the camp into four sections by destroying streets and bombing and burning homes.

Number of Displaced

Jenin Mayor Muhammad Jarar stated that the number of families displaced by Israel has reached approximately 3,200, totaling around 15,000 individuals. However, accurate information on those stranded remains unavailable.

Local institutions estimate that about 70 humanitarian cases and Palestinian families are still inside the camp and require urgent intervention to evacuate them. Jarar also noted that the occupation army abuses anyone found in their homes, forcing them to leave the camp.

Regarding the destruction, Jarar revealed preliminary statistics indicating that Israel has burned between 70 and 80 Palestinian homes, completely destroyed 30 to 40 homes, and partially damaged hundreds more.

He added that the occupation army is bulldozing and destroying streets, infrastructure, and creating paths for its vehicles through the rubble of destroyed Palestinian homes.

In Bethlehem, the Israeli occupation forces arrested two Palestinians in the southern occupied West Bank.

On Sunday evening, 18-year-old Adam Sub Laban was martyred, and two Palestinians were injured by occupation forces near the Qalandiya military checkpoint, north of occupied Jerusalem.

Parallel to the genocide in Gaza, the Israeli occupation has expanded its operations and escalated settler attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. This has resulted in 876 Palestinian martyrs, nearly 6,700 injured, and 14,300 arrests, according to official Palestinian figures.

Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, Israel, with U.S. support, committed genocide in Gaza, leaving over 158,000 Palestinian martyrs and injured, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
