U.S. Begins Mass Deportation of Undocumented Moroccans Amid Stricter Immigration Policies

The Trump administration launches the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, expelling 495 Moroccan nationals as part of its intensified immigration crackdown.

Watan-In a move reflecting stricter immigration policies in the United States, the administration of President Donald Trump has begun mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, including hundreds of Moroccan nationals.

According to data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as of November 24, 2024, final deportation orders have been issued for 495 Moroccan citizens residing illegally in the United States.

These deportations involve transporting the individuals on military aircraft, as part of what the administration has described as “the largest mass deportation operation in U.S. history.”

Moroccan scholar Dr. Mohamed Cherkaoui, a professor of international conflict resolution at George Mason University in Washington, wrote in a post:
“U.S. authorities have begun deportation procedures for 495 Moroccans, bringing to mind Trump’s 2020 remark that he ‘wanted to repay Moroccans for their recognition of America’s independence.’ A memory that forgets!”

These measures are part of the new U.S. administration’s intensified immigration policies, targeting undocumented immigrants, including those with criminal records. U.S. authorities are cooperating with their Moroccan counterparts to facilitate the deportations, with coordination between Rabat and Washington having started earlier to ensure the return of Moroccan citizens to their homeland.
