Watan-The Palestinian resistance released three Israeli prisoners and five Thai workers in the Gaza Strip on Thursday.
The Al-Qassam Brigades released Israeli soldier Agam Berger from the Jabalia refugee camp in central Gaza on Thursday morning.
Al-Qassam fighters extracted the Israeli captive from the rubble of a destroyed building in Jabalia and handed her over to the International Red Cross after signing a handover protocol.
Before that, dozens of Al-Qassam fighters and hundreds of Palestinians gathered around a stage in Jabalia in preparation for the release of the Israeli prisoner.
The Israeli army stated:
“A short while ago, accompanied by forces from the Israeli army and Shin Bet, the returning hostage, Israeli soldier Agam Berger, crossed the border into Israeli territory.”
The statement added that she would undergo an initial medical evaluation.
In Khan Younis, Al-Qassam Brigades, Al-Quds Brigades, and Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades handed over two Israeli captives, Arbel Yehud and Gadi Moses, to the Red Cross.
Arbel was seen in video footage surrounded by a crowd of supporters and resistance fighters in front of the home of martyr Yahya Sinwar.
In exchange for these Israeli prisoners, the occupation authorities will release 110 Palestinian prisoners, marking the third exchange operation since the ceasefire in Gaza earlier this month.
A spokesperson for Al-Quds Brigades previously stated on Telegram that the group had “completed the handover procedures of two hostages, Arbel Yehud and Gadi Moses,” and that their release would be part of the third batch of the first phase of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” prisoner exchange deal.
Among the 110 Palestinian prisoners set to be released from Israeli prisons, 30 are serving life sentences.
One of the prominent detainees to be freed is Zakaria Zubeidi, a well-known leader and former theater director who participated in a dramatic prison escape in 2021 before being recaptured days later.
