Mohammed Deif’s Family Emerges to Dispel Myths of Resistance Leaders’ Luxurious Lives
In a rare public appearance, the family of the late Qassam Brigades commander reveals their shared hardships with Gaza's displaced population.
Watan-In an unprecedented appearance, Ghadeer Siyam, the wife of the martyred Qassam commander Mohammed Deif, along with her children, emerged publicly to debunk narratives propagated by the occupation and adversaries of the Palestinian resistance concerning the lives of resistance leaders’ families. Contrary to Zionist propaganda claims, the General Commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Deif, did not live in luxury; instead, his family shared the suffering and deprivation experienced by thousands of displaced individuals in Gaza.
The martyr Deif’s wife and children appeared in a shelter within a semi-destroyed apartment, a refuge they sought following continuous Israeli bombardments. This scene refutes the occupation’s allegations that attempted to tarnish the image of resistance leaders by claiming they live in opulence while their people suffer. In reality, Deif’s family endures the same resilience as Palestinians in Gaza, amidst destruction, displacement, and pain.
Martyr Mohammed Deif led a simple and ascetic life, dedicating all his efforts to jihad and liberation. Despite being forcibly separated from his family, he was committed to raising his children on the values of resistance and Quranic memorization, instilling in them the belief that martyrdom is not an end but the beginning of a continuous journey of liberation and struggle.
His children appeared for the first time with pride and honor, enduring the separation from their father, who attained the reward for his prolonged jihad by joining the ranks of martyrs. For the first time, they were able to declare that they are the children of the historic Qassam leader, having remained in the shadows for fear of being targeted by the occupation, as their father was repeatedly.
Zionist propaganda and normalization advocates in the region attempted to distort the image of the Palestinian resistance, alleging that its leaders live in luxury while the people suffer from aggression.
However, the appearance of Deif‘s wife and children amidst displacement and destruction debunked these falsehoods, proving that resistance leaders and their families are no different from any Palestinian in Gaza, facing bombardment, displacement, and deprivation, clinging to their right to live with dignity on their land.
This family embodies the true model of sacrifice, as Deif was not detached from his people but lived their suffering, remaining steadfast in the choice of resistance until he achieved martyrdom. His name remains etched in the memory of the Palestinian people as an exceptional leader who neither compromised nor wavered, dedicating his life to the liberation of his land.
