Uncertainty Surrounds Final Destinations of Deported Palestinian Prisoners from Al-Aqsa Flood Deal

As released Palestinian prisoners seek permanent refuge, countries offer mixed responses, leaving their future uncertain amid political and diplomatic complexities.

Watan-The fate of Palestinian prisoners deported as part of the Al-Aqsa Flood prisoner exchange deal remains a subject of anticipation and debate, as questions arise regarding their final destinations after their release. Since the agreement stipulated the deportation of several prisoners outside Palestine, attention has turned to the countries willing to host them and the mixed reactions surrounding this sensitive issue.

Initial Destinations and Ongoing Negotiations

The first stop for the deported prisoners was Egypt, which received two groups totaling 79 released detainees. However, Egypt is not their final destination, as efforts are underway to find permanent host countries.

Turkey was among the first nations to officially agree to host 15 prisoners, while Qatar is preparing to receive another group. Egypt also agreed to host prisoners affiliated with Fatah and has given initial approval to host some released Hamas members.

Additionally, Algeria, Indonesia, and Malaysia have expressed preliminary willingness to receive some of the deported prisoners, though no final decisions have been made. In contrast, Tunisia has explicitly refused to accept any of the deported individuals under the agreement.

Hamas Engages in Intensive Diplomacy

Hamas has confirmed that it is engaged in intensive discussions with several countries to secure a stable and suitable environment for the deported prisoners. The movement emphasized that while the process may take time, progress is being made in the right direction toward a resolution.

Uncertain Future Amid Political Complexities

The issue remains unresolved amid political and diplomatic complexities, particularly as some countries decline to receive the released prisoners for various reasons. The key question remains: Where will the deported prisoners ultimately settle? And will a fair resolution be reached to safeguard their rights after years of imprisonment?
