Hamas Mourns Tayasir Attacker as Israel Vows More Strikes During Ramadan

Ongoing Israeli military assaults in Tulkarm, Jenin, and Tubas lead to mass casualties, forced displacements, and widespread destruction, as threats of escalation continue into Ramadan.

Watan-A limited number of citizens in the city of Tulkarm held funeral processions for two martyrs who were killed by Israeli occupation forces, as the military operation continued in the northern West Bank and the Jordan Valley. The Israeli occupation forces also escalated their threats to continue the military operation in the West Bank during the holy month of Ramadan.

A small gathering of relatives bid farewell to martyr Wahid Omar Wahid Madi “Sabbagh” (51 years old), who was martyred five days ago in Tulkarm refugee camp. The funeral procession departed directly from the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital towards the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the eastern suburb of Thanaba, while his family was unable to see him due to their confinement inside the camp under a strict siege imposed by the occupation.

Madi was martyred last Saturday, succumbing to critical wounds inflicted by an Israeli sniper’s bullet to his chest as he stepped out of his home in the Qaqoun neighborhood of the camp.

In the southern Tulkarm suburb of Irtah, citizens also held a funeral procession for martyr Ayman Fadi Qassem Naji (23 years old), who was killed nine days ago by Israeli fire. His body was taken to his family’s home for a final farewell, amid chants of takbeer and angry national slogans.

Martyrs Naji and Madi are among four martyrs killed during the ongoing Israeli assault on Tulkarm city and its refugee camp, which has persisted for ten days. The other two martyrs, Ramez Bassam Dumairi (24 years old) and Ihab Mohammed Attoyi (23 years old), are still in the hospital. Both were killed when an Israeli airstrike targeted their vehicle in front of the entrance to Nur Shams refugee camp.

Tulkarm

Israeli occupation forces have continued their assault on Tulkarm and its refugee camp for the tenth consecutive day, deploying military reinforcements and forcibly displacing hundreds of families from the camp under threat.

Tulkarm refugee camp is enduring extremely difficult times due to the ongoing siege imposed by the occupation, which, since the first day of the assault, has resulted in the complete destruction of infrastructure and both public and private properties. Israeli forces have bulldozed, detonated, and set fire to numerous structures while storming homes, expelling residents at gunpoint, and converting them into military outposts.

More Israeli military vehicles have entered the camp, with foot patrols deployed throughout its alleys and surroundings. Israeli forces have seized additional homes and commercial buildings, particularly in the city’s eastern neighborhood, Nablus Street near the camp’s northern entrance, and the area near Martyr Thabet Thabet Hospital.

The Israeli military operation, dubbed “Iron Walls,” continues in the West Bank. According to Israel’s public broadcaster Kan 11, citing military sources, the Israeli army plans to continue its aggression in the West Bank throughout Ramadan.

The report claimed that Israel’s security establishment initially aimed to avoid large-scale operations in Palestinian cities during Ramadan but instead intended to escalate repressive measures and impose restrictions on Palestinians to prevent an uncontrollable escalation. However, Israel will not adhere to this strategy at this stage and will continue its attacks in Jenin, Tulkarm, Tubas, and the northern Jordan Valley—an operation that began in Jenin following the implementation of the Gaza agreement and has since expanded to other areas of the West Bank.

The report further noted that the only factor that might lead to a reduction in these operations would be the resumption of war in Gaza or southern Lebanon if ceasefire agreements collapse, which would require the Israeli army to redeploy forces from the West Bank.

Israeli operations continue for the 16th day in Jenin, the 10th day in Tulkarm, and the fifth consecutive day in Tubas, Tammun, and the Al-Far’a refugee camp.

Tubas

Israeli incitement against the Tubas region continues, as Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) is operating in five northern West Bank villages and claims to have foiled around 90 attacks in the past month.

The targeted villages include Tubas, Tammun, Tayasir, Aqaba, and the Al-Far’a refugee camp, all located east of Jenin. The Israeli army has also dropped leaflets in Al-Far’a refugee camp warning against aiding armed fighters.

The leaflets read:”Israeli security forces are operating in your area against armed militants.””Iran’s proxies, with their external interests, are happy to see you, as civilians, pay a heavy price. Do not approach Israeli security forces, nor provide them with assistance or support.”

Tubas Shooting Attack

In related news, local sources reported that the perpetrator of the shooting attack at the Tayasir checkpoint in Tubas on Tuesday was martyr Mohammed Jamal Daraghmeh from Tubas. He was the brother of Ahmed Daraghmeh, the commander of the “Tubas Battalion,” who was previously assassinated by Israeli forces.

An Israeli military source told Army Radio that intelligence assessments indicate that “Mohammed Daraghmeh, the brother of the former Tubas Battalion commander who was previously eliminated by the Israeli army, was the one who carried out yesterday’s attack at the Tayasir checkpoint.”

The attack resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to eight others.

The Hamas movement mourned Daraghmeh in a statement, declaring that his act of resistance “demonstrates the Palestinian people’s ability to confront the occupation and proves the failure of all attempts to suppress the resistance in the West Bank.”

The Committee for Families of Political Prisoners revealed that Daraghmeh had previously been imprisoned by Palestinian security forces for over 154 days in Jericho Central Prison, where he endured torture before his release on November 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue their raid and siege on Tammun and Al-Far’a refugee camp south of Tubas for the fourth consecutive day, storming dozens of homes and arresting their residents.

Forced Displacement

As Israeli forces persist in their raids and siege on Tammun, they have forcibly displaced 25 families so far, particularly from the town’s outskirts, converting these areas into military bases. Additionally, Israeli drones carried out eight airstrikes on various locations yesterday, though no casualties were reported.

Najeh Bani Odeh, the mayor of Tammun, stated that due to the ongoing siege, farmers have been unable to reach their lands, leading to the potential ruin of entire crops. Similarly, livestock breeders have been unable to access their farms, risking mass deaths of animals and significant financial losses.

The Israeli occupation has also inflicted major destruction on the infrastructure of Tammun and Al-Far’a refugee camp using bulldozers. Israeli drones bombed an area in Tammun, south of Tubas, with no reported injuries.

The occupation authorities have declared a curfew in Tammun.

Jenin

In Jenin, Israeli forces continue their 16-day-long assault on the city and its refugee camp, resulting in 25 martyrs, dozens of injuries, mass arrests, home demolitions, a strict siege, forced displacement, and extensive destruction of infrastructure.

Israeli military vehicles have besieged Jenin Governmental Hospital, bulldozing its entrance and the main road leading to it.

The governor of Jenin stated that the occupation aims to permanently alter the camp’s geography and demographics through mass demolitions and destruction.

Israeli forces continue their systematic demolition of homes in Jenin refugee camp, while deploying continuous military reinforcements from the Jalama checkpoint to its surroundings.
