Princess Haya’s Resilience: A Journey from Royal Crisis to Yachting Triumph

Watan-Recently, social media platforms have been ablaze with new circulating photos of Princess Haya bint Al Hussein – the former wife of the ruler of Dubai who currently resides in Britain – documenting her latest appearance with her children from Mohammed bin Rashid (Al Jalila and Zayed).

Princess Haya was seen receiving the crew of the Maiden yacht on Monday after surpassing 14 teams and winning the “Ocean Globe Race” on IRC Handicap, becoming the first all-female crew to ever win a yacht race around the world.

Princess Haya’s Latest Appearance

This latest appearance of Princess Haya bint Al Hussein brings back to mind the crisis between her and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the ruler of Dubai, which ended with a British court ruling in her favor for divorce from Sheikh Rashid and custody of her children, along with a substantial fine in her favor.

The website “yachtingmonthly” published photos showing Princess Haya with her children, “Al Jalila bint Mohammed bin Rashid and Zayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid,” aboard the aforementioned yacht, along with Tracy Edwards and her crew, and in the presence of the Duchess of York, Princess Sarah as well.

According to the source, Princess Haya took commemorative photos with the Maiden yacht team after achieving this historic feat, appearing in a “casual” look that caught everyone’s attention.

The recent public appearance of Princess Haya bint Al Hussein was in September 2022, with her uncle Prince Hassan bin Talal, during their attendance at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Mohammed bin Rashid and Princess Haya Crisis

In 2021, a British court closed the chapter on the divorce crisis between Haya bint Al Hussein and Mohammed bin Rashid, with its final ruling that the ruler of Dubai should pay his ex-wife £550 million (US$728 million), in one of the largest divorce settlements handled by British courts.

The settlement is intended to cover Princess Haya’s security costs for the rest of her life, as well as ongoing costs for her and their children, Sheikha Al Jalila and Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid, with an upfront payment of $333 million (£251.5 million).

At that time, the court emphasized that Sheikh Rashid must pay the annual security costs for their children, who are now between 14 and 20 years old, for the rest of their lives or until further court order.
