Watan-Today, Tuesday, in Algeria, an agreement was signed regarding the update of the feasibility study, the non-disclosure agreement, and the compensation contract for the transportation of gas from Nigeria to Algeria.
The project, known as the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, is considered by Algeria to be a strategic initiative aimed at constructing a continental-scale pipeline to transport natural gas from Nigeria through Niger to Algeria, and then onward to European markets and other international destinations.
The Nigerian gas project has become a point of intense competition between Morocco and Algeria, as Algeria was displeased with the cooperation between Morocco and Nigeria to transport gas through 13 African countries.
The planned pipeline between Nigeria and Algeria is expected to be approximately 4,100 kilometers long, with 2,310 kilometers passing through Algeria and 841 kilometers through Niger.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project involves the construction of a 6,000-kilometer-long pipeline, starting from Nigeria and passing through 13 countries along the Atlantic coast before reaching Morocco and then being transported to Spain.
