Israel Accused of Blocking Medical Evacuations and Violating Gaza Ceasefire

Palestinian Ministry of Health Reports Ongoing Israeli Obstructions, Rising Death Toll, and Humanitarian Crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Watan-The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported that Israel is deliberately obstructing the departure of Palestinian patients and injured individuals from the Gaza Strip to receive treatment abroad through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

This was stated in a report issued by the Ministry on Tuesday, following Israel’s violation of the ceasefire agreement in effect since January 19, 2025, in four areas, including delaying the entry of medicines into the besieged Gaza Strip and hindering the entry of “requirements for the repair of hospitals and the health sector.”

The Ministry clarified in its statement that “53 cases” would be allowed to leave the Strip on Tuesday, which is fewer than the required number of 150 Palestinian patients and injured individuals. It also mentioned that Israel refused the travel of a 16-year-old cancer patient, who was supposed to leave Gaza as part of the list of individuals allowed to leave that day.

Hamas issued a statement on Monday evening, confirming that Israel had violated the ceasefire agreement by “delaying the return of displaced people to northern Gaza, targeting our people with bombing and gunfire, killing many of them, and obstructing the entry of essential sheltering materials such as tents, prefab houses, fuel, and debris removal equipment to recover bodies.”

In related news, the General Director of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Muneer al-Borsh, stated that the total number of martyrs since the ceasefire took effect on January 19, 2025, has reached 118. He detailed that 92 of these martyrs were directly targeted by the occupation, with 822 Palestinians injured. Al-Borsh also noted that two martyrs fell due to unexploded ordnance left by the occupation in Gaza, and the number of martyrs who died from their wounds rose to 24. He highlighted that health teams have recovered 641 martyrs since that date, including around 197 whose identities remain unknown.

Nearly every day, Israeli occupation forces violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza by using drones to target Palestinians with bombings, leading to casualties, including children and the elderly. This aligns with Israeli reports that indicate the Netanyahu government is preventing the restoration of life in Gaza to displace Palestinians, which corresponds to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to seize the Gaza Strip and remove the Palestinians.

In its daily statistical report on Palestinian martyrs and injured in Gaza since October 7, 2023, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Tuesday that the death toll from the Israeli genocide has reached 48,219 martyrs, with 111,665 injured. It also added that many victims remain under the rubble or on the streets, as rescue teams are unable to reach them due to a lack of equipment. The Ministry also pointed out that the Israeli war, which has lasted for about 15 months, has resulted in more than 14,000 missing persons, amidst massive destruction.
