Israel Recovers Remains of Soldier Killed in 1982 Lebanon War Through Secret Operation
Netanyahu announces return of Tsivka Feldman’s body, retrieved from Syria decades after battle with Syrian forces in Lebanon.
Watan-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that Israel has successfully recovered the remains of a soldier killed during the 1982 Lebanon invasion through a “special operation.”
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office read: “In a special operation by Mossad and the Israeli army, we have brought home the remains of Tsivka Feldman, who fell in the Battle of Sultan Yacoub in June 1982,” referring to a town in Lebanon’s eastern Beqaa region where Israeli forces clashed with Syrian troops during the invasion.
Hebrew media reported that the remains of Feldman, who served in the armored corps, were retrieved from Syrian territory as part of the secret mission.
