Occupation Fires and Settler Arson Trap the West Bank

Israeli forces and settlers intensify raids and arson across the West Bank.

Watan-Israeli occupation forces continued their raids on towns and areas in the West Bank, accompanied by settler attacks that included burning vehicles and targeting Palestinian homes.

Sources told Al Jazeera that settlers assaulted Palestinian lands and properties in the village of Beitillu, west of Ramallah.

Additionally, settlers set fire to Palestinian vehicles in the village of Susya in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron. Palestinian sources reported that the attackers infiltrated the village from a nearby settlement at dawn and set a vehicle ablaze, completely destroying it.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that a Palestinian boy was injured after Israeli forces stormed the town of Meithalun, south of Jenin, and fired an incendiary shell at a house.

The Red Crescent also confirmed that Israeli forces assaulted one of its ambulance crews in Jenin refugee camp yesterday. The crew had coordinated with the Red Cross to transport a patient.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of 15-year-old Diaa al-Din Sbeih, who succumbed to shrapnel wounds to the head. He was injured two weeks ago while at his father’s shop when an Israeli drone struck a vehicle in the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided the village of Qusra, south of Nablus. Local sources told Al Jazeera that military vehicles roamed the town’s streets and fired stun grenades and tear gas at young men confronting the occupation forces.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli soldiers brutally beat a young man during their raid on the village of Beita, leaving him with wounds and bruises.

Salfit and Tulkarm

Separately, Palestinian sources revealed that Israeli forces demolished a house in the town of Kafr ad-Dik, west of Salfit in the northern West Bank.

The Tulkarm governorate announced that Israeli forces are threatening to demolish 16 houses in the besieged Tulkarm refugee camp, which has been under blockade for 26 days. It estimated that the number of displaced people from the Nur Shams and Tulkarm camps ranges between 15,000 and 16,000.

According to the Palestinian Authority’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the Israeli army carried out approximately 76 demolitions in January, affecting 126 structures, including 74 inhabited homes, four uninhabited houses, and 29 agricultural facilities.

Israeli authorities prohibit construction or land reclamation in areas classified as “Area C” without permits, which Palestinians say are “nearly impossible” to obtain.

The Oslo II Accord of 1995 classified West Bank land into three areas:

  • Area A: Under full Palestinian control.
  • Area B: Israeli security control, with Palestinian civil and administrative authority.
  • Area C: Full Israeli civil, administrative, and security control, making up about 61% of the West Bank.
