Watan-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a direct threat to the Syrian leadership, warning of an imminent Israeli attack. The threats follow Syrian military operations in the Druze village of Jaramana near Damascus, under the pretext of pursuing outlaws.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Eli Cohen have given direct orders to the Israeli military to prepare for an assault on Syrian forces in Jaramana. This move signals Israel’s intent to expand its influence in southern Syria.
Netanyahu’s office stated that Israel “will not allow the extremist Islamic terrorist regime in Syria to harm the Druze community,” adding that any threat to the Druze population would be met with a decisive military response. Israel has frequently used the protection of minorities as a justification for its military interventions in Syria.

Meanwhile, Israel launched airstrikes earlier this week on military positions south of Damascus and in the provinces of Daraa and Quneitra, further escalating tensions in the region. Observers believe Israel is laying the groundwork for a broader military campaign in Syria as part of the so-called “David’s Corridor” strategy, which aims to divide the country and secure Israeli control over strategic areas extending to the Iraqi border.
This escalation comes as Syrian forces continue security operations against militant groups, particularly Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, led by Abu Mohammad al-Julani. The increasing hostilities raise the likelihood of a direct confrontation between Damascus and Tel Aviv.
With these developments unfolding, the international community’s response remains uncertain, as the UN continues its silence on Israel’s repeated violations of Syrian sovereignty. Are we on the brink of a new regional escalation that could lead to a direct military confrontation between Syria and Israel?
