David Hearst Warns Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa on Israeli Aggression and Regional Stability
Hearst urges Al-Sharaa to take strong action against Israeli encroachment in Syria, highlighting the critical need for decisive leadership and regional support.
Watan-British writer David Hearst warned Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa from Israeli encroachment into Syria, stating that the repeated peace signals sent by Al-Sharaa could be interpreted as a sign of weakness, encouraging further aggressive actions by the occupation.
Hearst emphasized that Israel is exploiting this approach to strengthen its military presence in southern Syria, imposing new security conditions that threaten Syrian sovereignty.
This warning comes amid rising tensions along the Syrian border, where the occupation announced its support for two minorities in the country: the Druze in the south and the Kurds in the north, reflecting an Israeli strategy to divide influence within Syria. According to Hearst, these moves demonstrate Tel Aviv’s desire to keep southern Syria demilitarized and prevent the new Syrian army from extending its control over its territory.

Damascus Governor Warns of Israeli Exploitation of Security Vacuum; Hearst Urges Strong Syrian Leadership Against Israeli Threats
Damascus Governor Maher Marwan warned that the occupation does not recognize the legitimacy of the new Syrian government, exploiting the security vacuum left by the fall of the previous regime. He added that Israel uses minorities as leverage to weaken the Syrian state and prevent it from regaining its strength.
Hearst believes that Al-Sharaa needs to take decisive steps to assert his control over Syria and adopt a strong stance against Israeli actions. He emphasized that Al-Sharaa has a short window to take a clear position before the challenges posed by the occupation and regional powers seeking to undermine his rule grow.
For his part, Hearst advised the Syrian president to rely on the strong regional support he has, particularly from Turkey, which has one of the strongest armies in the region. He stressed that Al-Sharaa should understand that Israel represents the biggest threat to Syria’s unity and independence, and that changing from military attire to a formal suit should not alter his internal convictions about the ongoing Zionist threats.
It seems that the upcoming phase in Syria will be decisive, as the new leadership must make strategic decisions to prevent Tel Aviv from imposing a new reality on Syrian land and ensure that previous occupation scenarios targeting Arab state sovereignty are not repeated.
