Hamas Spokesman Abu Ubaida Responds to Netanyahu’s Threats, Highlights Ceasefire Agreement Violations

Abu Ubaida affirms the resistance's readiness, condemns Israel’s failure to honor agreements, and urges Muslims to defend their dignity during Ramadan.

Watan-Abu Ubaida, the military spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), said in a video statement that the resistance had committed, in front of the world and mediators, to the terms of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza. He accused Israel of reneging on the agreement in an attempt to gain U.S. support to return to aggression.

In his new video message, Abu Ubaida appeared on the right side of the screen, with an image of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock in the Al-Quds Holy Sanctuary beside him, and under the image was a quote from verse 10 of Surah Fatir: “And the plot of those is doomed.”

In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s threat to return to fighting, Abu Ubaida said, “We are in a state of readiness for all possibilities. The resistance has what can hurt the enemy in any upcoming confrontation, and his threats are a sign of weakness and humiliation. This will only push us to return to break what remains of his prestige.”

He added, “The shortest path is to force the enemy to abide by what it has signed. What it couldn’t take by war, it won’t take by threats and tricks,” warning that “any escalation of aggression against our people will lead to the killing of some of the enemy’s prisoners.” He pointed out that the occupation is the one responsible for the deaths of its prisoners, in addition to the suffering it causes by reneging on the understandings.

Abu Ubaida: Proof of Life for Palestinian Prisoners, Warns Israeli Families

The Al-Qassam spokesman warned the families of the occupation’s prisoners “that we still have proof of life for those remaining prisoners who are alive, and the enemy’s threats of war will only result in disappointment for them and will not lead to the release of their prisoners.”

He emphasized that the world had witnessed the good health of the prisoners despite the difficulty of maintaining their lives under what he described as the “barbaric war,” and that “the world has seen how the resistance ensured the proper treatment of the prisoners, adhering to the ethics of our religion.”

Regarding the treatment of Israeli prisoners by the resistance, Abu Ubaida said, “The world has seen how the enemy continues to abuse our people’s prisoners, who provide horrific testimonies about the criminal treatment,” calling on “all fair people and human rights advocates to expose the crime committed against Palestinian prisoners.”

“The Blind Eyes”

In his new video message, Abu Ubaida said, “The blind eyes of the Western regimes cannot see the difference but they weep over the dozens of the enemy’s prisoners, while they disregard the safety of our prisoners,” accusing “the enemy leadership of attempting to renege on the agreement in an effort to prioritize partisan interests over the lives of their prisoners.”

The Al-Qassam spokesman extended “greetings to our brothers in Yemen for their stance, in which they declared their continued support and readiness to strike the enemy,” referring to the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, which has threatened Israel with renewed strikes if it breaches its agreement with the resistance.

On the occasion of the holy month, Abu Ubaida congratulated Muslims on the arrival of Ramadan, calling it the “month of conquests.” He said, “To the two-billion-strong nation, what are you going to do to defend your dignity before the hands of the oppressors reach you in your own homes?”

In the same context, Abu Ubaida directed to “the two-billion-strong nation” that “this Arab Muslim people is being subjected before your eyes to extermination, starvation, and an attempt at displacement.”

He added, “The Muslim nation will not stand tall, and it will not have any significance among the nations until this holy land is purified from the defilement of the occupiers. We say to two billion of our Muslim brothers, that your brothers in faith have sanctified their fasts with a flood of pure blood.”
