Watan-U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to issue a statement regarding the future of the occupied West Bank in the near future, according to several American and Israeli officials.
On February 5, when asked about Israel’s anticipated annexation of the West Bank, Trump stated that he would make an “announcement” on the matter within approximately four weeks. Those four weeks have now passed.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said last Tuesday that he was making a short visit to the United States to “strengthen economic cooperation” and “deepen the strategic alliance between our two countries” ahead of Trump’s expected announcement on the future of the West Bank.
Smotrich, a supporter of Israel’s annexation of the West Bank, arrived in the U.S. at a time when Trump is expected to clarify whether the White House will back such a move.
