Hamas Confirms Ongoing Mediation Efforts for Ceasefire and Second-Phase Negotiations
Egyptian and Qatari mediators continue efforts to finalize the ceasefire agreement and initiate discussions on the next phase, with positive signs emerging.
Watan-Hamas confirmed on Saturday that mediation efforts led by Egypt and Qatar are ongoing to finalize the implementation of the ceasefire agreement with Israel and begin negotiations for the second phase.
The movement indicated that there are positive signs in this direction.
This came in a statement from Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif Al-Qanou.
Hamas Confirms Progress in Ceasefire Talks
Al-Qanou stated: “The efforts of the Egyptian and Qatari mediators are ongoing to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and start negotiations for the second phase, with positive indications in this regard.”
He added: “We affirm our readiness to engage in the second-phase negotiations to achieve our people’s demands, and we call for intensified efforts to provide relief to Gaza and lift the blockade on our suffering people.”
Al-Qanou continued: “The movement’s leadership delegation, which has been in Cairo since Friday, is discussing ways to initiate the second-phase negotiations, ensure Israel’s commitment to them, and implement the outcomes of the Arab summit.”
