Khamenei Rejects Trump’s Negotiation Offer, Warns of Retaliation Against U.S. Threats
Iran’s Supreme Leader denies receiving Trump’s letter, rejects nuclear talks, and vows retaliation if the U.S. pursues military action. Tehran remains firm on resisting Western pressure.
Watan-Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that he has not yet received a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump, affirming that Tehran is not willing to negotiate with him. His comments come after Iranian news agency Fars reported that Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, delivered a letter from Trump to the Iranian Foreign Minister, inviting Tehran to discuss a new nuclear agreement.
Trump had recently claimed that he sent a letter to Khamenei proposing talks on a nuclear deal while simultaneously threatening military action if an agreement was not reached to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
In an interview with Fox Business, Trump said:”I wrote them a letter saying, ‘I hope you negotiate, because military intervention would be terrible.’”
Khamenei: U.S. Offer Is a Deception
In response, Khamenei dismissed Trump’s claim, saying he has not received any such message and accused the U.S. of trying to deceive public opinion.
“When the U.S. president says he is ready to negotiate with us, it is just a deception,” Khamenei stated.
He emphasized that Tehran will not be forced into negotiations through exaggerated demands or threats.
“America is threatening military action, but that is unwise because Iran is fully capable of retaliating—and it will.”
Rejecting Global Domination and Supporting Resistance
Khamenei declared that Iran remains the only nation that has firmly rejected global tyranny, accusing Western powers of forcing nations into submission and prioritizing their own interests over the needs of other people.
He also praised the strength of Hamas, claiming the group has grown stronger and imposed its conditions on Israel, despite the assassinations of its leaders Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Deif.
Additionally, he asserted that Hezbollah’s operations against Israel have intensified following the assassination of Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
“Iran will fully support Palestinian and Lebanese resistance with all its capabilities,” he declared.
“Do Whatever You Want” – Iran Stands Firm
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated that Tehran will not negotiate under threat, sending a direct message to Trump:”Do whatever you want.”
Pezeshkian dismissed Trump’s pressure tactics, saying:”He orders us to do this or not do that, threatening problems if we refuse. If you are making threats, then I will not come to the negotiations. Go ahead and do whatever you want.”
UAE’s Role in Diplomatic Efforts
Iranian state media reported that Anwar Gargash met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday. Iranian television aired footage of the meeting, but Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei declined to disclose further details.
Tensions Over Iran’s Nuclear Program
Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran. In response, Iran began rolling back its nuclear commitments one year later.
While Tehran denies seeking nuclear weapons, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently reported that Iran has accelerated uranium enrichment to 60% purity, nearing the 90% threshold needed for nuclear weapons.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi confirmed that Tehran will soon engage in a fifth round of talks with European signatories of the nuclear deal, including France, Britain, and Germany. Additionally, a meeting is scheduled in Beijing on Friday with Russia and China, both of whom are also signatories to the agreement.
