Morocco Receives First Batch of AH-64E Apache Helicopters, Strengthening Its Air Power
The Royal Armed Forces acquire six advanced Apache attack helicopters as part of a $1.5 billion deal with Boeing, enhancing Morocco's military capabilities.
Watan-Morocco has received six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters out of a total of 24 contracted with Boeing.
According to the “Defense Arabia” website on Monday, these helicopters are classified as the most powerful attack helicopters in the world. It added that the Moroccan version comes with advanced specifications, making it the best in Africa.
Morocco had signed a contract with the American company to purchase 24 Apache attack helicopters at an estimated cost of $1.5 billion, with an option to acquire 12 additional helicopters.
The contract also includes Hellfire missiles, rocket projectiles, advanced communication and navigation systems, maintenance equipment, and a specialized training program for Moroccan personnel.
With this deal, the Royal Armed Forces reach a new level, making Morocco the second African country to possess this helicopter after Egypt, according to “Defense Arabia.”
The Apache helicopter is heavily armed, capable of being equipped with up to 16 Hellfire missiles, 76 2.75-inch rockets, and 1,200 rounds of 30mm ammunition. It can also achieve a maximum speed exceeding 250 kilometers per hour.
