Egypt Denies Israeli Claims of Palestinian Relocation to Sinai

Cairo reaffirms its firm rejection of any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, calling such reports false, dangerous, and a threat to national security.

Watan-On Friday, Egypt categorically denied Israeli claims suggesting that Cairo is prepared to temporarily relocate half a million Palestinians to a designated city in northern Sinai (eastern Egypt) as part of a Gaza Strip reconstruction plan.

This came in a statement from the Egyptian State Information Service (SIS) in response to claims made by media outlets—though the sources were not specifically identified.

The statement emphasized Cairo’s unwavering and final rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinian people. It dismissed the reports as false and baseless, saying they are “completely and fundamentally inconsistent with Egypt’s firm and principled position declared since the early days of the genocide war on Gaza in October 2023.”

Egypt reiterated its absolute and final rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians—whether by force or voluntarily—to any location outside of Gaza, especially to Egypt.

Egypt Rejects Sinai Relocation Rumors

The statement further affirmed that any such attempt to displace the people of Gaza constitutes a “liquidation of the Palestinian cause and a grave threat to Egyptian national security.”

In this context, the Egyptian Information Service noted that this clear and consistent position formed the basis of Egypt’s plan presented at the recent Cairo Arab Summit on March 4, 2025, aimed at the reconstruction of Gaza.

It added that Egypt’s stance on rebuilding Gaza is based on the principle that not a single Palestinian should leave the territory, a point that was unanimously agreed upon at the summit.

Meanwhile, Israeli media—including i24NEWS—had in recent hours promoted claims that Egypt was preparing to relocate 500,000 Palestinians from Gaza to a city in the northern Sinai region.

The Israeli outlet alleged that these plans had been “discussed among Arab states,” although no evidence was provided to support the claim.
