Global Legal Initiative Launched to Prosecute Israeli Officials for Gaza War Crimes

International coalition “Global 195” targets Israeli leaders over alleged genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Watan-In a significant legal development that could pave the way for holding perpetrators of war crimes against Palestinians accountable, the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has announced the launch of a new international legal initiative called “Global 195.” The initiative aims to pursue Israeli officials involved in acts of genocide and serious violations in the Gaza Strip.

The initiative seeks to broaden the scope of legal accountability through a wide international coalition that includes legal institutions and lawyers from multiple countries across four continents, creating real pressure on Israel in international legal arenas. It relies on the use of national laws in countries that allow for the prosecution of individuals accused of crimes against humanity, alongside mechanisms of international law.

According to the official announcement, the coalition will work on collecting evidence, issuing international arrest warrants, and filing cases before competent courts against Israeli soldiers, officers, and politicians — whether they hold solely Israeli citizenship or dual nationality. This includes anyone who participated in, ordered, or facilitated crimes committed against civilians in Gaza.

Legal Effort Targets Israeli War Crimes in Gaza

The Centre confirmed that it has spent the past 18 months documenting crimes committed in the Gaza Strip and collecting strong evidence and testimonies proving Israel’s involvement in serious violations. These include massacres of civilians, targeting hospitals, destroying infrastructure, and imposing siege and starvation — all of which may be classified as crimes against humanity and acts of genocide under international law.

This legal move comes at a critical time, as Israel has resumed its war on Gaza amid intense escalation that has resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries within just a few hours — reinforcing the importance of such legal initiatives as serious attempts to halt Israel’s war machine.

Human rights organizations supporting this legal path hope that such legal pressure will reduce Israel’s impunity and push the international community to adopt firmer stances, beginning with accountability and ending with real action against violators of international law.
