Number of Journalists Killed in Gaza Rises to 208 Amid Ongoing Israeli Attacks
Palestinian officials accuse Israel and its allies of systematic targeting of journalists and call for urgent international protection.

Watan-The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the number of Palestinian journalist martyrs has risen to 208 since the start of the Israeli genocide on October 7, 2023.
In a statement, the office said:”The number of martyred journalists has risen to 208 since the beginning of the genocide war on the Gaza Strip, following the announcement of the martyrdom of journalist Mohammed Mansour, correspondent for Palestine Today TV, and journalist Hussam Shabat, correspondent for Al Jazeera Mubasher in northern Gaza.”
The office condemned “Israel’s targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists,” and called on human rights organizations and journalistic bodies worldwide to “condemn these systematic crimes against Gaza’s journalists.”
Gaza Media Office: Stop the Genocide, Protect Journalists
It held Israel, the U.S. administration, and countries involved in the genocide—such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France— fully responsible for this brutal crime.
The office also urged the international community and global organizations to apply “effective pressure to stop the genocide and protect journalists and media workers in Gaza.”
Activists circulated a video clip captured moments after Shabat was targeted, showing him lying on the ground drenched in blood, with another Palestinian who was also martyred in the same strike beside him.
Since Israel resumed its genocide in Gaza early Tuesday, it has killed 730 Palestinians and injured 1,367 others, most of them women and children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
