Yemeni Missile Triggers Sirens Across Israel as Tensions Escalate
Sirens and explosions shake Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the West Bank following a missile launch from Yemen, amid claims of a hypersonic strike and Red Sea confrontation with U.S. forces.
Watan-Explosion sounds and warning sirens were heard on Monday evening in the cities of Tel Aviv and occupied Jerusalem, as well as in a large number of Israeli settlements in the southern West Bank, due to the launch of a missile from Yemen.
The Israeli occupation army stated on X (formerly Twitter) that “sirens were activated in several areas of the country following a missile launch from Yemen, and the details are being examined.” Videos circulating online showed a bright flash in the sky over the city of Hebron, which appeared to be missiles launched by the Israeli military to intercept the Yemeni missile. Shortly afterward, the Israeli army claimed that it had intercepted the missile before it entered Israeli airspace. Some Israeli reports stated that the missile was intercepted over Jordan.
Yemeni Missiles Disrupt Israel Again
Hebrew media outlets reported that traffic was halted in areas where the sirens sounded, a scene that has become familiar in recent days as Yemeni missile launches increasingly affect Israel. The same sources noted that the sirens went off just as the Knesset began discussing the 2025 state budget.
On Sunday, the Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) announced that it had targeted Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport with a hypersonic missile called “Palestine 2” and had engaged the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Truman in the Red Sea. A statement from the Houthi military spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said: “The Yemeni Armed Forces targeted Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied Yafa area with a Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile.” The statement added that the operation “successfully achieved its goal, leading to the suspension of air traffic at the airport for more than half an hour.”
The statement also mentioned that “the armed forces engaged the American aircraft carrier Truman and several hostile warships in the Red Sea,” noting that the confrontation involved several missiles and drones and lasted for several hours. The statement affirmed the group’s continued resistance against U.S. aggression and its readiness to “match escalation with escalation with full bravery,” as well as its ongoing support for the Palestinian people and efforts to prevent Israeli navigation in the area of operations until the war ends and the siege on Gaza is lifted.
