Syria Condemns Deadly Israeli Strikes on Daraa Village
Damascus calls for international investigation after artillery and drone attacks on Kouya kill civilians and trigger mass displacement in southern Syria.

Watan-The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Tuesday strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, denouncing the latest escalation in the village of Kouya, located in western Daraa province, which resulted in civilian casualties and injuries.
In an official statement issued Tuesday evening, the ministry reported that intense artillery and airstrikes targeted residential areas and farmlands in Kouya over several hours, killing at least six civilians, with the death toll expected to rise due to critical injuries. The ministry described the escalation as part of a broader pattern of “Israeli violations,” including incursions into the Quneitra and Daraa governorates, calling it a “blatant assault on national sovereignty and a breach of international law.”
The ministry called for an international investigation into what it labeled “crimes against civilians,” and urged the global community to take a firm stand against what it described as Israel’s repeated violations. The statement also reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to its territorial integrity and rejected any attempts at forced displacement or the imposition of new realities through military force.
Israeli Shelling on Kouya Sparks Civilian Casualties and Displacement
Daraa Governor Anwar Taha Al-Zoubi stated that repeated violations by the Israeli military prompted local residents to confront an Israeli unit attempting to infiltrate the town of Kouya in western Daraa.
This confrontation reportedly triggered further escalation, as Israeli forces responded with heavy artillery fire and drone strikes, resulting in additional civilian casualties. The governor said: “We hold the occupation forces fully responsible for the deaths and condemn their continued aggression on Syrian territory.”
Earlier on Tuesday morning, approximately ten people were reported killed or wounded due to Israeli shelling on the village of Kouya in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa, in southern Syria. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven civilians and several injuries, and also triggered a wave of displacement as residents fled to neighboring towns and villages to escape the ongoing bombardment.
Sources familiar with the incident stated that the artillery fire originated from Israeli military positions in the Al-Jazeera outpost. The shelling caused both fatalities and widespread displacement among the village’s population.
