Israeli Airstrikes Hit Latakia, Escalation Spreads Across Southern Syria

Heavy bombing targets former Iranian-linked sites in Latakia as Israeli forces intensify ground incursions in Quneitra and Daraa.

Watan-The Israeli Air Force launched heavy airstrikes at dawn on Thursday, targeting military sites in the city of Latakia, northwest Syria, using high-explosive missiles.

Sources from monitoring and tracking units affiliated with the new Syrian government reported that Israeli warplanes, along with naval vessels stationed in the Mediterranean Sea, fired approximately ten missiles targeting the 110th Brigade (Navy) site and the White Port in the city of Latakia.

The sources clarified that the targeted sites had previously been used by Iranian militias as weapons depots. The airstrikes resulted in fires breaking out at the targeted locations, although the extent of human casualties has not yet been confirmed.

In a separate development, Israeli occupation forces shelled the Shaaban military outpost near the village of Hadar in the northern countryside of Quneitra with tank shells, with ten shells reportedly landing in the area.

Israeli Incursions Deepen in Daraa and Quneitra

The occupation forces also fired a flare over the village of Kuwayyah in western Daraa countryside, coinciding with the sound of four explosions inside the “Muheires” military outpost in northern Quneitra, southern Syria, following an incursion by the occupation forces into the site. Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were spotted flying over the northern and eastern countryside of Daraa, while Israeli military vehicles entered the Yarmouk Valley from the direction of the village of Jamla in the Yarmouk Basin area, in the western countryside of Daraa.

The same sources reported that three vehicles moved toward the Saisoun road and stopped there without entering the village, while other vehicles were stationed at the junction of Wadi Jamla village (Wadi al-Raqad). It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation army has recently intensified its incursions into these sites for short periods, often stopping and questioning passersby before withdrawing from the area.

Last Tuesday morning, six young men were martyred, and around 35 others were injured—including women—following an incursion by Israeli occupation forces into the village of Kuwayyah in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa province, southern Syria, after villagers attempted to resist the advancing forces.
