Missiles from Yemen Trigger Sirens in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as Houthis Strike Israel and U.S. Warships

Houthi forces claim successful ballistic attacks on Ben Gurion Airport and U.S. naval assets, amid rising regional escalation and ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.

Watan-Air raid sirens were heard on Thursday in the cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, in central Israel, for the first time in three days, following the detection of two missile launches from Yemen.

The Israeli occupation army stated that sirens were activated in multiple areas due to rocket fire from Yemen. It later confirmed that its air force intercepted two missiles launched from Yemen before they entered Israeli airspace.

Sirens also sounded in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with loud explosions heard in Jerusalem as Israel attempted to intercept the incoming missiles.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that departures and landings were temporarily halted at Ben Gurion International Airport, near Tel Aviv, as hundreds of thousands of Israelis rushed to shelters.

The sirens also sounded in Ramat Gan, Rishon LeZion, Holon, Lod, Rehovot, and many other cities and towns across central Israel.

Houthis Claim Missile Strikes on Ben Gurion Airport and Southern Israel

The Houthi group in Yemen announced on Thursday that its forces had carried out a joint military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport and southern Israel using multiple ballistic missiles.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, in a televised statement, said that their missile forces targeted Ben Gurion Airport in occupied Jaffa with a “Zulfiqar”-type ballistic missile.

He added that another military target south of Jaffa was struck with a “Palestine 2” hypersonic ballistic missile, stating that both operations successfully achieved their objectives.

Saree also announced a joint military operation targeting the U.S. aircraft carrier “Truman” and enemy warships in the Red Sea, using a number of ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones.

He said the results of recent confrontations included thwarting enemy attempts to advance naval assets toward the southern Red Sea, and foiling all efforts to expand aggression against Yemen via airstrikes and naval bombardments.

He stressed:”American aggression will only increase our determination and resilience. The recent confrontations are just the beginning of a gradual expansion of our defensive operations in the coming days.”

Saree reaffirmed that their forces will continue preventing Israeli navigation in both the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, declaring:”We remain committed to supporting our oppressed and steadfast brothers in Gaza until the aggression stops and the siege is lifted.”

U.S. Strikes on Yemen and Houthi Response

Early Thursday, the Houthis announced that two people were martyred in American airstrikes on the capital, Sana’a.

According to the Houthi-run Ministry of Health (unrecognized internationally), the United States has launched around 100 airstrikes on Yemen, killing 57 people and injuring 119 others, including children and women.

The Houthi group confirmed that the American attacks will not deter them from continuing their support for Gaza, and they have resumed launching missiles at Israel in response to what they describe as Israel’s renewed genocidal war on Gaza, following its withdrawal from a prior agreement with Hamas.

Ongoing Genocide in Gaza and Israel’s Record

Since Israel resumed its genocidal campaign in Gaza on March 18, 855 Palestinians have been martyred by Israeli gunfire, and 1,869 others wounded, the majority of them children and women, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry as of Thursday morning.

With unconditional American backing, Israel has been committing acts of genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in over 164,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, mostly women and children, and more than 14,000 missing.

For decades, Israel has occupied territories in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, refusing to withdraw or allow the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the borders prior to the 1967 war.
