Watan-The Israeli army said on Friday that it intercepted one of two projectiles launched from Lebanon, while the other fell inside Lebanese territory.
A statement read: “Following the sounding of sirens… two rockets were detected coming from Lebanon. One was intercepted, while the second fell within Lebanese territory.”
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant (referred to here as Israel Katz, possibly a misstatement or mix-up) said that Israel holds Lebanon responsible for the launch toward the Galilee region and will respond forcefully to any threat to its security.
In a statement, he said: “We will ensure the security of Galilee residents, and we will confront any threat with full force,” warning that “if calm does not prevail in the Galilee towns, there will be no calm in Beirut.”
The Israeli army responded by shelling a series of villages in southern Lebanon.
Several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon continue to be targeted by near-daily Israeli airstrikes. Israeli forces also remain stationed at several points in southern Lebanon and continue to open fire on civilians.
