Israeli Media Attacks Syrian Minister for Supporting Palestinian Resistance
Justice Minister Muzhar Al-Wais praises Gaza fighters as “mujahideen of justice,” sparking outrage in Israeli media and signaling a shift in Syria’s official stance post-Assad.

Watan-In an unprecedented media escalation, Israeli outlets launched a fierce attack on Muzhar Al-Wais, the Minister of Justice in Syria’s transitional government, over his participation in a conference supporting the Palestinian resistance and the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. A video, widely reshared by activists on social media, showed Al-Wais referring to Gaza fighters as “mujahideen of justice and jihad,” affirming the legitimacy of resisting the occupation by all means, including armed jihad.
The minister’s statements came during a conference titled “From Idlib to Gaza… One Wound,” which Israel considered a politically significant message signaling a shift in the new official Syrian stance following the Bashar al-Assad era.
The attack was not limited to the Syrian Minister of Justice. It also targeted other members of the government, including Sheikh Abdul Rahim Atoun, a member of the new Fatwa Council established by President Ahmad Al-Shara, who likewise expressed support for the resistance and rejection of normalization.

Resistance Rhetoric Sparks Israeli Alarm Over Syrian Shift
According to Hebrew media, the danger lies not only in the rhetoric, but in what they described as the “potential expansion of ties between Islamists in Syria and resistance factions like Hamas.” This, they claim, reshuffles the security landscape and heightens tensions on Israel’s northern front.
The Syrian minister has since become a symbol of Arab public support for the resistance, with activists on social media celebrating his stance and viewing it as a sign of a new shift within the Syrian elite after decades of official disengagement from the Palestinian issue.
This Israeli campaign reveals the state of panic gripping the occupation—not just from Gaza’s rockets, but from any Arab voice that stands with the Palestinian cause. It underscores that support for the resistance is no longer confined to battlefields, but has become a battle of awareness and media, now fought even by ministers in government positions.
